Bushwalk Beauty
Paintings by
Colin Schildhauer
After moving to Tasmania I quickly began learning about the numerous environmental issues that plague its fragile ecosystems, particularly the ongoing logging of the Tarkine (takayna). I became captivated by the Tarkine’s beauty, and disturbed at the splintered detritus and machinery strewn across clear-felled coupes in this land that should be regarded as sacred. My paintings seek to encourage and restore a connection with the environment through the construction of contemporary allegories based on the increasing detrimental impact we exude on the planet.
